The Gallivanting Grandma and Ignite This Ish End Partnership Regarding Back2TheWater Retreat; Retreat to Continue Independently
Honolulu, Hawaii and The Woodlands, TX – March 15, 2025 – The Gallivanting Grandma and Ignite This Ish have mutually agreed to dissolve their partnership concerning the Back2TheWater retreat in Cartagena, Colombia, scheduled for August 17–27, 2025. The Gallivanting Grandma will continue to operate the Back2TheWater retreat independently, while Ignite This Ish will redirect its focus to its ongoing User Experience Research surrounding swim disparity.
This decision allows both organizations to pursue their respective missions with greater clarity and efficiency. The Gallivanting Grandma, through the Back2TheWater retreat, will maintain its commitment to providing a transformative wellness and swim confidence experience for BIPOC women aged 55+, addressing critical issues of water safety and empowerment.
“Back2theWater has been a labor of love to address an important initiative. I sincerely appreciate the work we’ve all put into the research and planning,” said Diamond Crystal, founder of Back2TheWater. “My commitment to the shared vision of making it a transformative experience remains solid, and I value the time and effort that has gone into this process.”
Ignite This Ish will now concentrate its resources on conducting in-depth User Experience Research to better understand the systemic barriers contributing to swim disparity within BIPOC communities. This research aims to provide valuable insights that will inform future strategies and initiatives to promote water safety and accessibility.
“We should be tackling swim disparity from so many angles that it doesn't stand a chance,” stated Tarise Singletary from Ignite This Ish. “By focusing on our User Experience Research, we can contribute meaningfully to creating lasting change and improving water safety outcomes within effected communities.”
